BanK travels

The first travel entry from Ben and Kel since leaving Edinburgh. We've had a whirlwind two weeks getting Kel's PhD submitted, packing and flying out to San Fransisco. Had a brilliant couple of days in SF enjoying the amazing architecture, food, atmosphere and company of Kel's mate, Sylvia. Highlights included the SF Moma (modern art gallery), the space of Herba Buena park, walking along the coast from the golden gate bridge, California Street, a few too many fine brews from a micro brewery, Alcatraz tour, the clam chowder, and the sunshine on the last day.

Moved on to Auckland and hired a bike to cycle from coast to coast. The dear ole city really couldn't compete with SF, so we hot footed it out after an overnight stop. Now in Raglan, North Island of NZ. It's a picturesque wee town surrounded by aqua marine seas. Started off with a blissful walk along the beach which ended in a couple of hours utterly lost in the dark as the sunset in some forest. So much for R&R. Ben is currently having his first surfing lesson in the piddling rain with two equally crazy Japanese lasses. Kel's still catching up on her Zzzzzs after the PhD panic. Tomorrow we're hoping to hire a couple of wetsuits and boards and make the most of the pearls of wisdom he learned today.
